
Shawnee Post 193 continues with its Legacy of Veterans serving veterans, and Veterans serving our community, with its annual award program on December 10th, 2024. It truly was a grand event and gala, complete with a delicious homemade spaghetti meal, homemade desserts, great volunteers and dignitaries from across the Commonwealth.
- VA Commissioner Whitney Allen had opening remarks about the state of Veterans in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
- Commander McWhorter announced that we had 2 members Lee Reeves and Mike Rodgers that had their service in Vietnam permanently recorded with the National Library or Congress with the National Court Reporters Association this year.
- Mike Ashby opening remarks and history of awards.
- Donna Purvis, 5th District Metro Council presented Shawnee Post 193 with Proclamation about our long and continued service in the Portland Community and surrounding areas.
- Executive Director of Emergency Services, Ron Heady, acknowledged the group.

- Corrections Chief, Jerry Collins made the presentation to Correction Officer of the year, Tina Payne.

- Major Stephanie Way, made the presentation to EMT Technician of the year Technician Scott Johnson.

- Sgt Joseph Vidourek made the presentation to Police Officer of the year Officer Brian Lima.

- Fire Chief Bian O’Neil made the presentation to Fireman of the Year Captain Joey Davis.
- Commander McWhorter made the presentation of Legionnaire of the Year, Don McDonald, who was unable to attend for health reasons and was accepted by Steve Trout.

- President Melanie Walker made the presentation of Auxiliary of the Year Teresa Hunchman.

- Commander Brad Walker made the presentation of SAL of the Year to Mitch Ashby.
- Commander McWhorter made the Stir Stick Award presentation to the following: 20/21 Covid, Mike Rodgers 22, Mitch Ashby 23, Melanie Walker 24.

Shawnee Post has a long history in our community and is growing smaller and smaller each and every year.
