Local Scout Achieves Eagle Rank!

It is with great honor to report that Sam Ivie, a senior at Southern High School, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout (the highest honor in Scouting) after years of dedication and service to the Boy Scouts. Sam is truly a resolute, trustworthy, and intelligent young man.

He has been a Sons of the American Legion (SAL) member for 17 continuous years. A sampling of his volunteer and community work includes:

  • Participating in our Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs
  • Offering his musical talents and saxophone including playing the National Anthem at events
  • Volunteering at Louisville Metro’s Brightside for community-wide cleanups in the Portland area
  • Assisting elderly veterans when needed

Sam is always willing to lend a hand when asked to help at the Post or in his community. He is the type of young man that we need to lead us in the future. He is an asset for our community and our country. Congratulations from Post 193! We wish you all the best now and in the future.
