Throughout July Squallis Puppeteers took the stage at Portland Museum’s Lighthouse Education Center and performed three amazing shows for children in our neighborhood: Brain Party, Tricky Fox, and Mouse Tales. Brain Party got the kids on their feet, Tricky Fox encouraged them to pick up a book, and Mouse Tales demonstrated what’s possible when we all work together! Squallis Puppeteers’ Executive Director Nora Christensen, with help from a big yellow shag carpet and for Mouse Tales her daughter Stella, was able to capture the attention and imagination of her audience so intently it’s like she disappeared behind the puppet. Each show was followed by a finger-puppet making workshop, and it was incredible to see the what must be constant energy of these kids jump right back out after being so still and absorbed during the performance.
