Charlie Frick joined the Portland Anchor in the early 1970s while working for Senior House West where “a typical day found him doing the ‘Hokey Pokey’ with the senior group or telling one of his famous ‘great’ jokes.”

Portland Residents Address Vacant & Abandoned Properties
Nearly every block in Portland has a vacant lot or abandoned house. Neighbors are left to decide how to deal with it. Call the owners if you can find them? Call the City? Cut the grass? For answers, Portland residents are meeting with Tia Bowman of the Louisville Metro Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD). Ms. Bowman’s presentations are designed to equip residents with information and establish priorities to address the issue.
Ode to a Cherry Tree: Some Thoughts on Affection

What’s more important are the fundamental questions it stirs up for me: “What kind of a neighborhood do we want to live in?”, “What is our relationship with nature and, dare I say, beauty?”, and “What does it mean, at this late hour, to live at harmony with one another and the planet?”
