CeLOUbrate Print Returns with Steamroller Printing
and New Exhibition at Portland Museum!
CeLOUbrate Print is returning for 2025 bigger and better than ever! Alongside the return of steamroller printing and other interactive printmaking activities in the backyard of the Portland Museum on Saturday April 19th from 10AM to 5PM, join us Friday April 18th from 5PM to 8PM for the opening of a new exhibition exploring the changemaking history of print here in Louisville. The Portland Anchor is sure to make an appearance alongside plenty of other well-known and underground publications. Alongside the stories and artifacts on the walls, that evening representatives from some of those publications will be present for a panel discussion hosted by UofL’s Archives and Special Collections, so if you’re reading this newspaper, we’d bet you’d be interested! We hope to see you both days, one for learning about our past and one for creating artwork for our future.
To reiterate: Exhibition opening Friday, April 18th. CeLOUbrate Print Saturday, April 19th. All at the Portland Museum! Come on out, did we mention it’s all 100% free?

LVA Unveils SPARK Sculpture
What is the SPARK Sculpture at Louisville Visual Art (LVA)? The SPARK Sculpture is a large work of art that the artist team HADDAD|DRUGAN was commissioned to create. It was installed on the side of LVA’s building at 1538 Lytle Street in the winter of 2024-2025. SPARK stands for Student + Professional Art Resources + Knowledge – and that’s what you will find at LVA’s Lytle Street building! The SPARK sculpture includes bright metal elements and clear rods that light up similarly to neon tubes. The work will also have many “icons” painted onto the wall around the main “SPARK” shape using a stencil
process.

The Often Seen, Rarely Spoken Mural Collective painted elements of the design. LVA’s neighbor, Rockerbuilt, fabricated and installed the sculptural components.
