If you’ve driven down Portland Avenue lately you’ve probably noticed the construction crews and black mesh fencing now populating Portland Museum. These are the beginnings of our upcoming children’s museum AHOY, and we can’t wait to share it with the families of Portland soon! We’re currently working with the Weber Group, founded by two brothers who grew up right next door in Shawnee, to restore and transform a dilapidated Victorian mansion into a place where our neighborhood’s kids can learn history and play. Stay tuned for more updates as we make progress on this project many years in the making, and come visit Portland Museum sometime soon!
