Have a Free Wedding Day in Portland!
The Portland Church is hosting a free wedding day! There is availability for three weddings on Saturday June 7, at the Lytle Street Chapel. The space, minister, seating for 60, and limited decorations will be provided free for your wedding! It is a dream come true to be able to host weddings at the Lytle Street Chapel and we are honored to extend the invitation to anyone in Portland who wants to get married.
Portland Resident Makes Local Impact with Cedar Lake
After spending nearly a decade in the Peace Corps in China and Ukraine, and a long career as a director of a busy food bank, Louisville native Cassie Cairns identified Portland as the ideal home for her and her husband Lachlan. Now, she serves as Director of Impact and Advocacy for Cedar Lake Foundation, which supports 254 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the greater Louisville area.
Portland Museum Hosts Café LOUIE Community Discussion, Featuring Elected Officials
“Louisvillians: Organized, United, Informed & Engaged (LOUIE)… is designed to facilitate communication and interaction between elected officials—both state and local, and constituents through a series of informal meetings at Louisville Free Public Library locations,” according to its website. The Portland Museum was the local substitute of the Portland Library, which is under construction.

$14.5 Million Grant to Reconnect Portland to the Riverfront
The Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA) has been rewarded a $14.5 million grant from the US Department of Transportation’s Reconnecting Communities Pilot Program to improve pedestrian connectivity to the Ohio River for the Portland area of Louisville.

High Street Public House Coming to Portland in Early 2025
Jared Miller, an 18-year Portland resident as well as contractor and developer, is hoping to bring some life back to the “quintessential small-town intersection” he calls the “Five Points of Portland” at 3300 Northwestern Parkway with his upcoming family tavern High Street Public House.
